Weekly Report

Week 13

  1. This week is the week where all group need to present their final findings on subject. Our group, ILQAM had presented our final findings on Tuesday class ( 2/10/2007). We have prepared the slides for this presentation to show the proposed business process flow, the suggestion, benefits, objectives and problem outcomes to reengineered boutique business process.
  2. On the last day which is on Thusday class (4/10/2007), we need to evaluate the team members in the form of participation, attendance and contribution during the subject finding until final findings.
  3. For all ILQAM team members, thank you for your commitment, participation and conttribution during performing this project.

WEEK 12

The activities during this whole week are:-

  1. We need to prepare the final findings on subject as mention in Wednesday(26/09/2007) class.
  2. There is no class on Thursday (27/09/2007). So our group do a meeting in COIT in order to discussed about the contents to put in the slides for the subject 's final findings.
  3. During this 2 hours meeting, the things that we were discussed:-
  • we reviewed the previous presentation slides and company case study.
  • brainstorming on how to prepare the content of presentation slides.
  • find the subtopics that are going to be highlighted such as problems, findings, proposed suggestions to the solutions, comparison of current company business process flow and proposed company business process flow, its benefits, its outcomes and the interfaces of proposed system.
  • divided the task among team members and compile it on sunday or monday.

Minute meeting:
  1. On Wednesday class, Pn Ros did mention that the presentation for subject final findings will be start next week. Therefore, the objective of the meeting is to prepare the contents for the final findings.
  2. Firstly,we had reviewed all the previous presentation slides and also the assignment on templates.
  3. Then, we start preparing the outline for the contents that should have in this presentation.
  4. After preparing the outline content, the project manager divided the tasks among team members. Each members need to detailed out the outline contents in slides. This slides will be compile together on Sunday.

Weekly Report

WEEK 11

During this week, the activities that our group does are:
  • Pn Ros gave us an article which is called a case study in small business in north-west Tazmania. We need to read this article and understand the whole article.
  • Our Project Manager divided the subtopics among the team members. Each of us need to read their parts and understand their parts.
  • On Wednesday class (19/9/2007), we were given a tutorial based on the article of case study. There were 4 questions in this tutorial.We need to summarize the business practice of this company, identify its business process, find the problems and issues that faced by this company before the reengineering process and give the suggestion to overcome the problems and issues. We did this tutorial in class and sits in our group to do discussion on this tutorial.
  • We continued to finish this tutorial on Thursday class (20/9/2007) and need to be submitted on Friday.

Weekly Report

WEEK 10

  • We're now in Week 10. These are the activities that our group does in the whole weeks.

1) We do analyze back the business problem back. From the process flow we identified the problems in this business process.


2) From the 5 problems that we identified from the Wedding Reservation Services, we choose 1 major problem to be reengineered.

3) We have chosen this problem as main problem that occurs in this business process.

  • The main problem is in the customers made decision part where employee take a long time in entertain customer because the customer need a long time to made decision (waste of time).

4) In the previous class, Pn Ros had asked all the groups to prepare templates. We managed to come out the templates but this templates were based on the whole business process because at that time we did not managed to find the problems yet. Then we modified back the templates to meet with the Wedding Reservation Services and need to be subbmitted on Friday(13/9/2007).






5) After we have chose the problem to be reengineered, we come out with the idea to solve the problem. The idea is to build the website for Butik Asmaradana.We determine the benefits that the Butik will have if they preferred to build the website.

6)The benefits are:-
  • it can give a lot of benefits to the boutique such as save time of the employee and customers.
  • the boutique does not have to hire many employees and this idea is save the company budget.
  • all the collection of the boutique can be put in the website with all the description, price and so on.
  • the customers just need to browse the website and make the choices and they only need to go to the boutique to make the reservation and pay deposit only.
  • Customers also can make the reservation by online.
  • All the reservation will straightly store in database so that the management of boutique can easily organize and keep track the data.
7) On Thursday (13/9/2007), we had 4th appointment with the manager of Butik Asmaradana. Syuhada and Mazura went to Butik Asmaradana to conducted this meeting.In this one hours meeting, we discussed about a few things such as:-

  • Show the Butik Asmaradana Business Process Flow.
  • Show the templates
  • Explained to her about we had identified a few problems with the current Wedding Reservation Services process flow.
  • Suggest to her to build the website for her boutique in order to reengineered that part.
  • Explained to her the benefits of the website to her boutique.
  • The manager of Butik Asmaradana agreed to accept this idea and the recommendations on how to upgrade her boutique.

Progress Report

1) On Thursday( 13/9/2007) we do the site visit to Butik Asmaradana on 3pm.
2) We go to Butik Asmaradana to show to manager of Butik Asmaradana about the business process flow and the templates to reengineer the wedding reservation services.
In this one hour meeting, we have discussed about the ideas on how we can improved this process.
3) These are the contents of our discussion:


  • Show to manager of Butik Asmaradana the business process flow.
  • Show the templates of the assumptions,challenges and ideas based on the wedding reservation services.
  • Explained to her why we think the wedding reservation services need to be reengineered.
  • After the explaination, manager of Butik Asmaradana agree on ideas to build the website to her boutique.

4) The objectives of building the website for Butik Asmaradana are:

  • To decrease the customers waiting time to be entertained. They can just simply browsing through the website to view the wedding dress collections, the wedding's package and other services provided by this boutique. They also can go to boutique to view the collections or make reservation.
  • To manage customer reservation. They can make the reservation through online. It is also give advantages to boutique because they can keep track the customer reservation and avoid resevation redunduncy.
  • It is convenient to the boutique management because it have only 5 workers. It's not require the boutique to hire many workers to handle this wedding reservation services.

WEEK 9

  1. During this week, we have a presentation on wednesday and thursday's class. We need to present our progress on redegisning the business process. We have completed the Butik Asmaradana process flow.
  2. We performed the techniques which are Assumption Surfacing,Idea Generation ,Selection & Integration and Process Validation. In this templates we list down all the assuption, challenges and idea toward Butik Asmaradana business process. Pn Ros asked all student to submit this templates. We modified the templates in order to focus only on weeding services part.
  3. Wedding services process is the process where we are going redesign. According to Pn Ros's comment for our presentation, we need to specified which part of wedding services that are going to redesign. We also need to detailed out the possible solution toward the identify problem.
  4. We're still waiting the confirmation for the next interview with manager of Butik Asmaradana.

Weekly Report

WEEK 6

1) Set up the third appointment with the manager of Butik Asmaradana. This interview were held on Sunday (19/08/07). This meeting was conducted just for half an hour because Pn NoorLiyana need to go to Hotel Shangri-La for the wedding event. During this meeting, we just asked a few questions about Butik's business process to add in our business process analysis and redesign.

2) As we now on week 6, our group has been done two stages in business Process Analysis and Redesign which are Process Mapping and Process Analysis and Selection. Now we are moving to the 3rd stages which is called Process Redesign. At this stage, we need to follow several techniques for high-level redesign.
The Techniques are:-

  • Assumption Surfacing
  • Idea Generation
  • Selection & Integration
  • Process Validation

First step, we use templates to help us doing this process redesign for Assumption Surfacing. The templates are:-

  • WHAT Templates
  • WHO Templates
  • WHERE Templates
  • WHEN Templates
  • WHY Templates
  • HOW Templates

Second step, we make Challenges to the Assumption and after that we make Idea Generation.

-For this week 6, we are doing business process redesign. We need to follow some techniques for this process redesign which is assumption surfacing and idea generation.
- Before we implement the template that we learnt in class, we complete the Butik Asmaradana process flow that will help us in preparing the template.





- On this week class session, we need to prepare the template for our business. We need to use simple templates in surfacing assumption. We prepare the templates using:-

ii) WHO Template
iii) WHERE Template
iv) WHEN Template
v) WHY Template
vi) HOW Template

After we make assumptions, we make challenges to it and then give the idea generation to the assumption and challenges we make.

WEEK 5

1) Setup the 3rd appointment with Manager of Butik Asmaradana to ask about business process and Butik Asmaradana's project flow. We need to set up this interview to collect more information about their business process.


2) We set up a meeting on (9/8/07) to discuss about our presentation on (8/8/07). We analyze the comment from Pn Ros about our presentation and comment in the blog. We discussed on what to be improved next time. In the meeting, we also create the objectives of our group towards this project.

WEEK 4

On Friday (27/07/07), Nur Syuhada and Nurul Wahidah went to Seksyen 8, Bangi to find case study for this project. And they went to Butik Asmaradana & Andaman Pengantin to ask to be case study and the owner of boutique agreed to be the case. After that, we set up an interview on Sunday (29/07/07). Nur Syuhada, Nurul Wahidah and Mohd Naufal had made an interview with Puan Norliana, Manager of Butik Asmaradana & Andaman Pengantin. The interview goes smoothly. On Wednesday (01/08/07) class, we had meeting at Level 1, COIT. As leader, Nur Syuhada explain to Wan Mazura and Wan Maslinda about the interview last Sunday.After that, we do the discussion about the business process of Butik Asmaradana & Andaman Pengantin and prepare outlines for the presentation that will be held in week 6. We also draw the project flow of Butik Asmaradana & Andaman Pengantin. On the other hand, we had discuss about the process mapping.

Butik Asmaradana is located at No. 129 A, Jalan 8/1, Seksyen 8, Bandar Baru Bangi, 43650 Bangi, Selangor. It's belong to Puan Norliana bt Rosli. Puan Norliana manage the boutique with her husband and her staffs. The main dealing of the boutique are wedding planner, salon, massage and facial treatment. In addiotional, the side dealing of her boutique are catering, dancing, singing, sound system, modeling, rental prop, dress for annual dinner, and handle an event that customer requested.

WEEK 2

On Wednesday (18/07/07) class, we need to performed group. Each group must have 5 members. We need to find any businesses around Bangi and study its business process. On that day, we discussed and do brainstorming about the case study and list out the company name around Bangi that we wish to go. On the same time, all group need to create a blog and give the blog title to Puan Ros and our group blog address is
http://ilqam.blogspot.com. For this week, all group members have their own task:

  • Nur Syuhada and Mohd Naufal are responsible to find case study around Bangi.
  • Wan Mazura and Nurul Wahidah are responsible to update blog.
  • Wan Maslinda is responsible to prepare report for each meeting.

WEEK 3

On Tuesday (24/07/07), Nur Syuhada and Mohd Naufal went to Serdang to find case study. They went to Baker's Cottage and Arina's Butik. Unfortunately, they reluctant to be our case study because can't give full commitment towards this project. On Thursday (26/07/07), we do not have class for CISB 524 and Puan Ros asked every group to set up a meeting and discussed about the project. We had the meeting at Level 1, COIT at 3.00 pm. All group members attend the meeting. We discuss about Project Planning and Project Schedule. During this meeting, we divided the task among team members.
